Robin Anderson
Robin Anderson is a graduate of the College of St. Scholastica. Over the past 21 years she has taught a variety of subjects from math to anatomy. In the last 14 years, she has taught Life, Forensic, and Physical Science at Proctor High School. She has also been involved in coaching the volleyball and softball teams. In addition to having a strong background in the Sciences, she has completed a Masters of Education from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Ms. Anderson currently teaches Biology for MSC Online


Ann_Bidle
Ann Bidle holds Bachelor degrees in Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Physical Science, and Biological Science, plus a Master's in Education degree from The College of St. Scholastica. She teaches high school students in Cook, MN, and likes to read, fish and hunt in northeastern Minnesota. She has two sons, and her family enjoys spending time at their cabin on Lake Vermilion.

Ms. Bidle currently teaches Refresher Math, Consumer Math and Algebra for MSC Online.



Melissa Bland
Melissa Bland has studied Spanish at Universidad de Alicante in Spain where she lived with a Spanish family and at Universidad de Costa Rica, in San José, Costa Rica where she lived with a Tican family. She has taught online Spanish for two years and in face-to-face classrooms for 5 years, including Chisholm, MN and Southwestern Iowa. She and her husband recently welcomed a new baby boy into their family and she also enjoys traveling, reading, dancing, and doing anything active!

Ms. Bland currently teaches Spanish I, II, III and IV courses for MSC Online.



Shelly Ceglar
Shelly Ceglar has worked as a K-12 Media Specialist in the Mt. Iron-Buhl district, has taught Indian Art at Mesabi Community College, and has been an Ojibwe language instructor and curriculum writer at the College of St, Scholastica. She has a M.Ed. in Educational Media and Technology and a B.A in Elementary Education and Bilingual/Bicultural Education (Ojibwe) from The College of St. Scholastica. She has coauthored the Ojibwe computer CD tutorial "Inashke! Ojibwemowin" and currently writes a language page called "Zaasijiwan" (It ripples), for the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission. She is married with two grown children and her hobbies include painting, weaving and Native art.

Ms. Ceglar currently teaches Ojibwe Language and Computer Technology courses for MSC Online.


Brent Fadum
Brent Fadum is currently a science teacher in northeastern Minnesota. He has taught in rural northwestern Minnesota, an Eskimo village in Alaska, and other less conventional places, such as a prison. (He says this is much nicer!) He has taken several online classes, and has taught online for over two years, so he has a pretty good idea what it is like from both sides of the monitor. He has been lucky to teach many different science classes and is always looking to expand his horizons, which is one of the reasons he teaches online. He believes taking online classes can be a great experience if you are willing to put a bit of work into it, and he looks forward to working with students as we all pioneer this new learning method.

Mr. Fadum currently teaches Chemistry, Earth Science, Environmental Science and Physical Science for MSC Online.


Clay Foxx
Clay Foxx graduated from Cloquet High School, has served in the US Air Force and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He currently teaches Social Studies and Physical Education at the Northland Learning Center, an alternative school in northeastern Minnesota. He is married with two children.

Martin Franklin
Martin Franklin currently teaches Spanish at Hibbing High School in Northern Minnesota, where he has taught for 18 years. He studied Spanish in Colorado at the Elementary, Jr. High, High School and College levels. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Colorado State University and he recently completed a Master of Science degree in Education – TESOL through Shenandoah University in Virginia. He has traveled in Mexico and he has lived in both South and Central America, where he taught American students at a private international school.

Mr. Franklin will be teaching Spanish for MSC Online.



Lyle Giersdorf
Lyle Giersdorf has been a licensed teacher of Social Studies for 29 years. He has a Masters in Education degree from St. Scholastica and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s University. He enjoys the life northern Minnesota has provided with ample fishing, hunting and outdoor opportunities. As a life long learner, he has enjoyed teaching online for the past three years and feels it has been a great learning experience.

Mr. Giersdorf currently teaches American Government, American History, Psychology, Sociology and World History for MSC Online.


Glen Gilderman
Glen Gilderman holds a BA degree in Teaching Social Science from the College of St. Scholastica and an MA degree in Teaching Students with Emotional Disabilities. He has taught for 18 years at Proctor Middle School and Proctor High School. He currently teaches Senior Social (Economics and Sociology) and Psychology at Proctor High School. In addition, he coaches the Proctor/Hermantown Marshall Girls High School Hockey team. He is married with two children and enjoys watching his kids play sports and also watching the Twins, Wild and Vikings.

Mr. Gilderman currently teaches American Government and other social science courses for MSC Online.



Jennifer Green

Jennifer Green holds a BA degree in English and mathematics from Luther College and an MS degree in Educational Leadership from SMSU-Marshall. She has taught all levels of English and math in the last 13 years in five different districts. She currently teaches English and math at Byron High School in Byron, MN. Her unique double major and variety of teaching experiences give her that “outside the box, anything is possible” thinking that is perfect for working in an online environment. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and yellow Lab.



Erikka Grose
Erikka Grose lives in Eveleth and has been teaching English in northern Minnesota for the past 11 years. She is a University of MN-Duluth graduate with degrees in English and coaching and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at St. Cloud State University. She most enjoys watching her students fall in love with good books! In her spare time, Erikka enjoys reading, writing, and spending time in Togo at her family cabin. She likes to kayak around the lake, fish for crappies and trout, and hike and bike on the trails.

Ms. Grose currently teaches English, Grammar and Composition, and Journalism courses for MSC Online.



Jess Halley
Jessica Halley is originally from Duluth, MN. She holds a BA from the College of St. Scholastica. And has been teaching social studies for seven years in the St. Louis County School District. She has traveled to several foreign countries including Mexico, Italy, France, England, Germany, Finland, Estonia, and Russia. She also enjoys traveling to MLB ball parks throughout the US and enjoys playing many sports including curling, soccer, running marathons, Nordic skiing and water skiing. Most of all she enjoys spending time with her family.

Ms. Halley currently teaches Middle School Social Studies courses for MSC Online.



Penny Juenemann
Penny Juenemann lives in Two Harbors with her husband and their two daughters. She teaches biology, physics and advanced chemistry at Two Harbors High School. In addition, she is the adviser of the National Honors Society and the Enviro Club. She has also previously taught science at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe school. Penny holds a BAS degree in Life Science Teaching, a BAS degree in Physical Science teaching and a BS degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She also holds an MS degree in Science Education from Montana State University-Bozeman. Penny enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking, XC skiing and traveling.

Ms. Juenemann will be teaching Science courses for MSC Online.



Ken Knox
Ken Knox holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Education from University of Wisconsin-Stout and a Masters degree in Education from UW-Superior, along with licensure in Business Education from Winona State University. He is a Business teacher at Proctor High School where he has taught a variety of business courses including marketing, accounting, and computer applications. He is married with two children. He has coached basketball at Proctor, including recently the head coach position. He also has been both a varsity baseball and softball umpire. Some of his hobbies are working with computers, deer hunting, snowmobiling and four-wheeling.

Mr. Knox teaches Business and Computer Application courses for MSC Online.


Ann Krier Ann Krier currently teaches at Moorhead High School and is working towards a master degree in School Counseling at North Dakota State University. Her teaching license is in Special Education (EBD/LD) and she currently teaches Independent Study and online classes. For her, working with students in an online environment has been a wonderful and exciting experience. She loves watching her students grow with the knowledge that is available to them. During her free time, she loves to spend time with friends and family, including two daughters and a son. She also enjoys reading a good novel and spending quiet time at the lake.

Linda Liebl
Linda Liebl has taught in the ROCORI schools for 17 years. She holds a BA from the College of St. Scholastica in English with a minor in secondary education, plus a Masters degree in Educational Media from St. Cloud State University. Ms. Liebl is currently the high school media/technology specialist, teaches video production and coaches Knowledge Bowl and golf.


Lynn Mercer
Lynn Mercer holds a BS in business and Spanish and a Master's degree in Counseling. She teaches Spanish in Cannon Falls, MN and is the advisor for Student Council. She has studied in Spain and has taken student groups to Spain and Mexico. In her spare time, she enjoys raising service dogs for Hearing and Service Dogs of Minnesota, and traveling with her husband and two daughters.


Kathy Nelson
Kathy Nelson holds a BS in English and Speech Communications and a Masters in Education, as well as a K-12 Administration degree. She has taught Speech and English at Proctor High School, and currently serves as the Staff Development Coordinator for the district. She has worked with online students for the past three years. As a speech teacher, she sometimes misses the face-to-face contact with students when teaching online, and knows that it takes a special, self-motivated student to be successful with online work. Her hobbies include playing with her four grandchildren, biking, camping, and pontooning on the St. Louis River. She loves the smell of a campfire while drinking hot chocolate, and telling great stories.

Ms. Nelson currently teaches English and Life Skills for MSC Online.


Carolyn Olson
Carolyn Olson is a licensed K-12 Art Specialist with a BFA in Painting/Graphic Design and a Masters Degree in Painting. She currently teaches Visual and Media Art at the AlBrook School-ISD2142, Saginaw, MN as well as gidakiimaniwigamig Science and Math Camp through Fond du Lac tribal and Community College and the University of Minnesota. She currently is creating iron sculpture and painting and her current work can be seen at Lizzard’s Gallery , Duluth or at www.carolynolson.com. She lives with her husband and twin sons in northern Minnesota.

Lori Olson
Lori Olson has been teaching since 1981 and has taught health education, physical education and developmental/adaptive physical education, and community service. She has also coached swimming, track and field and volleyball. She holds a B.A.S. degree in Health and Physical Education plus a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and certifications in Developmental/Adaptive Physical Education and Coaching. She is currently attending classes to earn certification as a Director of Community Education and has been a participant in the Minnesota State Quality Teacher's Network for the past twelve years. A typical day includes working with students from age 3 to 18 - never boring, always full of excitement and fun! She loves spending time with her family, usually on the golf course.

Derek Parendo
Derek Parendo has been teaching science since 1997 and has taught general sciences in grades 6-9, geology, environmental, physics, and astronomy. He started his career in Virginia, MN and now teaches at Proctor High School in Proctor, MN where he lives with his wife and two daughters. He holds a Masters in Education degree and an administrative license. In addition to teaching, he is the head football coach and C-team boys basketball coach in Proctor. His hobbies include fishing, hunting, and spending time with his two daughters.

James Pavlek
James Pavlek‘s discipline is Life Science, with a strong interest and research in Parasitology and Medical Entomology. He has taught at the university level as well as high school, but really enjoys high school students, as every day is an adventure. He also serves as Director of Distance Learning for the Minnesota Service Cooperative (MSC) Online Learning Project, and works with an excellent staff of teachers and support personnel to provide service to our students, partner members, and other entities who utilize MSC Online. He enjoys cross-country skiing in the winter, gardening in the summer and traveling at any time of the year.

Mr. Pavlek currently teaches Biology and Science 8 for MSC Online.


Leanne Poppenhagen
Leanne Poppenhagen holds a Bachelors degree in Secondary Social Studies Education and American History. She is also working to complete Masters in Education degree at Bemidji State University, where she first experienced being an online student. She currently teaches a wide variety of history and social science courses, including college-level courses, at St. Louis County Schools. She believes online learning needs to become an integral part of public education, because it provides students with the preparation they need for college and beyond. Her interests include watching hockey and figure skating, reading, fishing, spending time with friends and family, and learning anything she can!

Cathy Priest
Cathy Priest has worked for the Eveleth-Gilbert School District for many years and has taught all of the math and most of the science classes offered in grades 7-12. She has previously taught in other schools in Minnesota, Michigan and Ontario, and has also taught a Curriculum Design course for St. Mary’s University. She holds a BS degree in Biology and Mathematics from Michigan Technological University, an MA degree in Educational Psychology from Eastern Michigan University and an MS degree in Mathematics Education from Bemidji State University. She is married with two grown children and enjoys sailing, alpine skiing, cooking and spending time at the family cabin and with her children.

Liz Skalko
Liz Skalko believes everyone can learn art and be successful; it just takes patience and practice. As a recorder of history and a universal language, art is a form of self-expression that surrounds our lives every moment of the day. From the moment in the morning you wake up, to the pattern on your pajamas, to the wallpaper, to the pictures on the walls, your clothing, your breakfast dishes and every ad you see, every object is created from someone's artistic ability. Whether it’s a craftsman’s creation, any form of design work, or technological creation, these are all related to art. She holds a Masters degree in education plus a BS degree in art education and is a mother of two, who loves animals.

Ms.Skalko currently teaches Art Appreciation for MSC Online.


Linda Smith
Linda Smith has a BA degree from the College of St Scholastica in English, library science and secondary education plus a Masters in Education degree and certifications in middle school keyboarding and technology applications. She has been involved with online learning for more than twelve years and believes that learning online allows students to expand their horizons and learn any time and anywhere. In her current position as Technology Director, she has assisted her school district to move towards offering more courses online and has trained teachers on how to teach online. Her hobbies include fishing, canoeing, biking, reading, gardening, music and jewelry making – and she has operated a BWCA outfitting business and played in an Irish band!

Ms. Smith currently teaches English and Language Arts courses for MSC Online.


Julie Stauber
Julie Stauber has been teaching for almost 20 years in a variety of settings, including working with students in special education and at-risk settings, as well as regular high school and online classes. She has taught in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. She thoroughly enjoys teaching and is always looking for ways to improve and enhance her portfolio of educational strategies. She believes every student has the capacity to learn. It just takes practice. In her spare time, Julie sees herself as the super fan. She and her husband follow their three children in their athletic and academic endeavors, and they all enjoy supporting her husband as he coaches the UWS Yellowjacket men’s hockey team.

Sarah Svatos
Sarah Svatos is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Moorhead. She holds a Bachelor degree in Spanish/Teaching. Ms. Svatos has been studying languages her entire life and began studying Spanish 17 years ago. She has been teaching Spanish for five years in the face-to-face school setting and has been working in Spanish immersion environments with Concordia Language Villages for the past eight years. She has traveled throughout Mexico and has taken students to Spain and Costa Rica.

Ms. Svatos will be teaching Spanish III for MSC Online.


Molly Tweite
Molly Tweite graduated with a Life Science Education degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has taught Biology, Ecology and Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology, and AP Biology at Byron High School for three years. She has also coached Science Olympiad and 7th grade softball. Currently, she is a full time teacher for her 9 month old daughter. She and her husband enjoy hiking, reading, fishing, and watching the twins.


Kathy Undeland

Kathy Undeland holds a Bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth. She is currently licensed in Minnesota to teach French, math, and also holds a coaching license, with a BAA degree. She is currently in her 11th year teaching high school students in Tower, MN, and has been teaching online for over three years. She is married with three children: a pet cat and three tropical fish. When she is not spending family time playing at the beach, park, or in our yard, she enjoys playing in Volleyball and Softball Leagues, snowmobiling, boating, fishing and being active in various community projects.

Kristi Wasko
Kristi Wasko is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth. She holds a BA degree in communications and political science and a BAA degree in teaching social studies. She currently teaches Economics, Psychology and American Government at Two Harbors High School. She lives on the North Shore and enjoys supporting her 14 year old twins in their sporting events, along with my husband, who is a varsity hockey coach. In her spare time she enjoys golfing, reading, and she loves to travel!

Carolynne White
Carolynne White holds BS degree in Social Studies and Asian Studies at Bemidji State University, along with a Masters of Education in Special Education/ Emotional Behavioral Disordered from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has worked in both Virginia and Minnesota, including experience in a self contained elementary EBD classroom, as an EBD resource teacher k-12 and most recently as a Special Education Coordinator for Byron Schools. Both her parents were teachers so she had the advantage of spending every summer in Park Rapids, Minnesota on the lake, and she still loves to swim, water ski, and sail; another hobby is taking pictures.
